Data Recovery is a versatile product that can recover a variety of file types
from drives connected by IDE, SATA, SCSI and USB connections. It also can
recover files from optical disks, RAID arrays and iPods without requiring you
to make an additional software purchase. This disk recovery software can help
you recover files following a variety of data-loss problems, including MBR
corruption, Windows reinstallation, reformatted partitions and re-partitioned
drives.
Power
Data Recovery provides five scans: undelete recovery, damaged partition
recovery, lost partition recovery, digital media recovery and CD/DVD recovery.
We tested this file recovery software on three lab PCs running the newest
version of Windows 7, and it was able to restore our test files. However, the
simple undelete scan did not detect all our missing files; we had to run the
damaged partition scan to find all the files we were looking to find.
This
version does not include the ability to create a bootable creation CD; however,
MiniTool does offer this capability as a separate purchase. Bootable creation
CDs can help you find files on an unbootable system. This software does not
include a disk imager for creating copies of a damaged disk. Disk imaging tools
can create an exact copy of damaged drives for file recovery and of healthy
drives for backup purposes.
